To ensure that your vehicle works safely and efficiently, you should have your brakes checked and serviced regularly. We recommend having your brake system inspected every time you change your tires or at least every 10,000 kilometers.
There are several indicators that your brake pads or discs need to be changed, for example, if the brake system warning light on your dashboard comes on, if you have to floor the brake pedal or if it feels unusually soft when you step on it, if it takes longer for the vehicle to come to a stop, if you hear a grinding noise when you brake or if you feel pulsations or vibrations in the steering wheel or brake pedal.
Unless they show signs of wear, your brake pads should be replaced every 35,000 to 45,000 kilometers. However, if you use your vehicle primarily for city driving, you should change the pads every 20,000 kilometers, as they get used much more frequently than they do on the highway.
Your brake discs wear down every time you step on the brake pedal. Generally, we replace them at the same time as the brake pads.
